The Hotel

From the moment you arrive at the Min y Don Hotel, you are assured of a warm and friendly atmosphere. The hotel is tastefully decorated in a modern yet classic style, with two large public lounges and our main dining room over looking the bay.

Our twenty-five bedrooms are all en suite, most with showers, some with baths, and all individually decorated. We have ten bedrooms with full sea views and many rooms suitable for families, couples and single guests. We also have ground floor accommodation. Please note, however, this is a three storey building without a lift, so if you require a lower or ground floor room, please specify when booking.

Situated opposite the famous Victorian pier entrance, many guests comment how well the Hotel is sited for Llandudno's main attractions and ease of access for those travelling by car or train. The Min y Don is also an ideal base for excursions further a field to the historic town of Conwy, rugged and beautiful Ynys Môn (Anglesey) and Snowdonia National Park.

..........

The Min y Don has a wonderful place in the history of Llandudno as the home of Sir Clement Le Neve Foster, geologist, mining engineer and HM Gvt's Chief Inspector of Mines from 1872 – 1904. For twenty-five years, during his post in North Wales at the end of the nineteenth century, Le Neve Foster and his family lived at Min y Don.

As Llandudno was rapidly developing into one of the country's busiest seaside towns, Le Neve Foster was instrumental in improving the working conditions and dramatically reducing the appalling death rate of miners in Wales's slate and metalliferous mines. A plaque displaying more information on Sir Clement has been kindly placed in our garden by Cadw (http://cadw.wales.gov.uk).
